Almost nobody saw this coming: 9 biggest college football surprise teams

The college football landscape has been reshaped by unexpected surges from programs like Kentucky, UCLA, and Utah. Kentucky, previously projected near the bottom of the SEC, now sits at the top of the conference standings under the guidance of Will Stein and the steady play of quarterback Kenny Minchey.

Meanwhile, Bob Chesney has led UCLA to an undefeated start in the Big Ten, while Morgan Scalley has guided Utah to a perfect 7-0 record in the Big 12 behind the dual-threat production of Devon Dampier and Byrd Ficklin. Conversely, former Utah coach Kyle Whittingham is facing significant challenges during his first season at Michigan, and Oregon has struggled following the departure of their former offensive coordinator.
