Joan Mir reveals battle with vision problems ahead of Sepang MotoGP return

October 29, 2026

Honda competitor Joan Mir has opened up about a lengthy absence from the championship following the San Marino Grand Prix, revealing that he dealt with severe exhaustion and eyesight difficulties. The former premier class title holder missed four successive grand prix weekends as a result of the mysterious ailment, noting that standard recovery timelines did not apply to his condition.

After weeks of uncertainty and ineffective early remedies, intervention from championship medical director Dr. Angel Charte finally triggered a noticeable recovery.

Speaking ahead of his competitive return at the upcoming Malaysian Grand Prix, the Spanish racer admitted that the ordeal created significant doubts about his future in the sport. Although he began light motorcycle training again the previous week to evaluate his fitness, he acknowledged the difficulty of determining when he was fully ready to resume competition.

With medical clearance secured and treatment proving successful, Mir is eager to test his physical condition on track once free practice gets underway.
