Federal environmental clearance has been granted for the Adelaide MotoGP street circuit, allowing the project to move into detailed design, including a tree and vegetation plan. The South Australian government will now develop grass run‑off areas for non‑event days and repurpose the pit lane precinct for community sport, with the inaugural Australian Grand Prix slated for the weekend of 12‑14 November 2027.
State Premier Peter Malinauskas hailed the approval as a key milestone, noting that Adelaide will become the world’s first city to host a MotoGP street race and that the plan aims to protect mature trees while showcasing the city to a global audience. The new venue will replace Phillip Island on the MotoGP calendar, although the island will continue to host other top‑level motorsport events.
