Josh Inglis achieved a historic milestone at Newlands by becoming the first Australian cricketer to record multiple centuries across all three international formats. Returning to the side after a finger injury sidelined him for the opening two matches of the series, the wicketkeeper-batter struck 102 runs against South Africa.
His innings, which included 11 fours and two sixes, helped Australia surpass the hosts' first-innings total of 329. This performance saw him surpass the achievements of former teammates Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell, who both failed to complete the set of centuries in all three formats during their careers.
Inglis shared a significant 185-run partnership with Alex Carey before Simon Harmer eventually dismissed him. The match also saw the inclusion of Cooper Connolly, Nathan Lyon, and Cameron Green in the Australian lineup.
