Dutch tennis star Tom Okker captured the Paris Masters title twice, first in its inaugural 1969 edition on carpet without losing a set, and again in 1975 after rallying from a two‑sets‑to‑one deficit to defeat Arthur Ashe in a five‑set final. He remains one of only seven players with multiple singles victories at the event, joining Brian Gottfried, Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras, and his 1975 win came after a semi‑final run in 1973 that ended with a loss to Ilie Nastase.
While Federer and Nadal together have amassed 42 Grand Slam crowns and 64 Masters 1000 trophies, they share just a single Paris Masters title—Federer’s in 2011, with Nadal never winning there. Novak Djokovic leads the tournament’s history with seven crowns, four more than the next best, Boris Becker and Marat Safin, each with three.
Despite Okker’s success in Paris, he never secured a Grand Slam singles title, though he reached at least the semifinals at each major and was runner‑up at the 1968 US Open, while winning two Grand Slam doubles titles at Roland Garros and the US Open.
