Mariners claim 1B/OF Michael Toglia off waivers in first offseason addition

The Seattle Mariners have acquired infielder and outfielder Michael Toglia off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds to initiate their offseason roster building. Toglia's previous campaign was cut short after just ten appearances due to a dislocated right shoulder and subsequent surgery to repair a torn labrum.

Originally selected twenty-third overall in the 2019 draft by the Colorado Rockies out of UCLA, the switch-hitter has struggled to find major league consistency. Throughout his career in Denver and briefly in Ohio, he accumulated a sub-two-hundred batting average alongside a negative three point five fWAR over numerous plate appearances.
