Golden State begins its preseason preparations facing an immediate roster obstacle. Veteran center Kristaps Porzingis must remain behind due to an undisclosed medical concern, keeping him off the flight to Hawaii.
General manager Mike Dunleavy learned of the situation the day before camp opened, noting that the big man had previously participated in workouts without complications. Although leadership hopes for a swift return, the organization remains cautious regarding his availability for the opening games.
Porzingis previously signed a two-year contract extension worth forty million dollars during the offseason following his acquisition from Atlanta last February. Meanwhile, teammates Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody have both advanced to light on-court drills as they continue recovering from respective knee injuries.
