India secured a spot in the 2026 Asian Games women's hockey final by defeating South Korea 2-0 on Wednesday. Ishika opened the scoring in the 44th minute off a pass from Deepika, and captain Salima Tete added a second goal three minutes later.
The triumph guarantees India at least a silver medal and sets up a gold-medal clash against defending champions China on October 2, with an automatic berth at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics also on the line. China advanced to the title match by overcoming Japan 4-2 in a penalty shootout.
The upcoming final gives the Indian squad an opportunity to claim their first tournament gold since 1982.
