Following a decisive 27-7 Week 1 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia, the San Francisco 49ers have bolstered their front line by bringing former Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson onto their practice squad. Jackson, a 24-year-old former third-round selection standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 330 pounds, appeared in nine contests during his 2025 campaign with Cincinnati.

In addition to Jackson's arrival, San Francisco elevated Brayden Willis as they gear up for their home matchup opposite the Miami Dolphins.

The 49ers' defense enters Week 2 looking to build upon a strong showing that consistently harassed Matthew Stafford in the second half, where they shut out the Rams 17-0. However, the win also produced roster setbacks, notably an MCL sprain for tight end Jake Tonges along with an ankle injury sustained by rookie wideout De'Zhaun Stribling.
