Cody Gakpo subsequently doubled the advantage for the home side by striking nine minutes into the second half.

Tottenham managed to reduce the deficit in the 69th minute courtesy of a Conor Gallagher finish. Despite the late push and the contest continuing through extra time, Liverpool held on to their edge to secure the win.
