Glamorgan and Essex rained off on final day

Rain brought a premature end to the County Championship Division One fixture at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, forcing a draw between Glamorgan and Essex after only 21 deliveries were possible on the final morning. Following a late commencement to the day, Essex advanced their second innings by 20 runs before George Bell fell for 66, leaving the side trailing by 25 runs after following on prior to the weather halting play permanently.

The drawn result leaves Glamorgan in sixth place within the standings, while Essex secure eighth position in the table. The final league standings were influenced by a points penalty applied to Leicestershire following a prior match against Glamorgan, which ultimately assisted Essex in avoiding relegation concerns alongside regulations governing poor pitch conditions.
