Manchester United have been rocked by a sudden departure request from 15-year-old talent JJ Gabriel, whose representatives formally asked to terminate his deal so he can enter free agency. The teenager, who recently wiped all United-related media from his Instagram profile, was slated to feature in an upcoming Carabao Cup fixture against Brighton before being pulled from contention.
Frustrations over scarce pitch time are understood to be driving the teenager's decision, with Gabriel logging merely eight minutes of senior action throughout pre-season and missing out on the club's Champions League main squad list. Top sides throughout England and continental Europe are closely tracking the fallout.
Club executives Omar Berrada, Jason Wilcox, and Stephen Torpey are tasked with resolving the standoff through discussions with the player's camp and family. Officials at Carrington view the rift as salvageable and believe significant efforts were made to integrate him into the senior setup, including past discussions with former manager Ruben Amorim, an encounter with Sir Alex Ferguson, regular first-team training, and a pre-season appearance under Michael Carrick where he substituted on for Bryan Mbeumo against Atletico Madrid in Stockholm.
