Twenty-year-old C. Andre Siddarth views his upcoming promotion as deputy to R.

Sai Kishore in the Tamil Nadu Ranji Trophy lineup as a welcome challenge rather than a burden. In addition to his state squad duties, the young batter is slated to captain the Tamil Nadu under-23 team during their upcoming fixture against the Rest of India under-23 side starting Thursday.

Drawing inspiration from teammate B. Indrajith and former Australian captain Steve Smith, Siddarth aims to use this leadership opportunity to refine his skills while staying grounded amidst the sport's inevitable fluctuations.

He is also adapting to the demanding training environment introduced by newly appointed head coach V. Yo Mahesh, whose rigorous practice sessions are designed to push players beyond their usual limits.
