Saturday proved to be a day of mixed fortunes for Indian cricket enthusiasts. While the Shreyas Iyer-led T20I squad captured the Asian Games gold by defeating Pakistan in the morning, the evening brought disappointment as the West Indies secured a five-wicket triumph in the third and final ODI.
Chasing a target of 352, the visiting side successfully overhauled the total with 10 balls to spare. Captain Shai Hope spearheaded the run chase with a brilliant, unbeaten innings of 162 runs from 143 deliveries.
He received valuable contributions from Amir Jangoo, who added 67 runs, and Keemo Paul, who chipped in with 44.
Earlier in the match, India posted a formidable total of 351/7 after being sent in to bat. Rohit Sharma contributed an aggressive 92 runs at the top of the order, while Ruturaj Gaikwad added 57.
Wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul provided late momentum with a spectacular, unbeaten 129 off 87 balls to push the hosts past the 350-run mark. Despite early setbacks that saw Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli dismissed cheaply, India's total proved insufficient as Hope anchored the West Indies innings to secure the series-ending victory.
