Indiana general manager Amber Cox firmly rejected widespread criticism directed at her organization's supporters following a postseason controversy involving Las Vegas star A'ja Wilson. The executive argued that negative media narratives lack factual support, pointing out that no spectators were ejected or found in violation of the league's behavioral rules throughout the entire campaign.
During her end-of-year media session on Saturday, the front office leader noted that large crowds traveled from all fifty states and numerous countries to pack the arena, while emphasizing that occasional spectator misbehavior occurs across every level of sports.
The franchise's postseason run concluded with a third-game playoff defeat against Las Vegas, following a series that had previously drawn scrutiny after Wilson confronted a supporter near the conclusion of the second contest. Las Vegas head coach Becky Hammon remarked subsequently that both competitors and attendees share accountability for proper decorum, though the organization later maintained that the individual involved had not breached spectator guidelines.
