Falcons put Da’Shawn Hand on IR, promote TE Nick Muse to active roster

The Atlanta Falcons have placed defensive lineman Da'Shawn Hand on injured reserve after he sustained a torn quadriceps in their 20-13 Week 1 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hand, who signed a $3 million contract during the offseason, managed only seven snaps in the contest before succumbing to the season-ending issue.

To fill the vacancy, the franchise elevated tight end Nick Muse to the main roster while also adding an ex-Chicago Bears running back to the practice squad.

The roster moves come amid broader injury hurdles for Atlanta, including quarterback Michael Penix Jr. remaining sidelined as he works back from a torn ACL.
