England close on series sweep against Pakistan: third men’s cricket Test, day two – as it happened

On day two of the third men's Test, England edged nearer to a series whitewash over Pakistan behind a sequence of half-centuries from the batting order, alongside another impactful spell from Ollie Robinson. Action in the 40th over saw Razaullah test Dan Lawrence with a sharply rising opening delivery that beat the bat, followed by another delivery striking Lawrence on the elbow before the batter responded with a crisp four through midwicket to push England to 160 for four. Harry Brook stood on 52 at that point.

Lawrence sustained England's rapid early momentum during the 41st over as Mohammad Abbas began bowling from the opposite end to a wicketkeeper standing up to the stumps. Lawrence struck back-to-back fours off Abbas, first glancing the ball square on the leg side and then steering an edge across the turf, elevating his personal tally to 17. With Brook advancing his score to 53, England's total moved swiftly to 169 for four.
