Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has dismissed recent speculation that he will participate in the IPL 2027 mini-auction, calling the reports unfounded. The 34-year-old left-arm pacer, who holds a UK passport acquired in May 2026, had been linked to the auction after registering for the Afghanistan Premier League draft as a British national.
His registration in the Platinum category fueled rumors about a potential franchise cricket comeback, especially as the IPL 2027 auction is set for December 16 in Goa. Amir has already made strides in English domestic cricket, joining Nottinghamshire for the 2026 T20 Blast and later representing Trent Rockets in The Hundred, marking a new phase in his career post-retirement from international cricket in 2024.
His international career spanned 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 62 T20Is, during which he claimed 259 wickets across all formats. Amir’s shift to British citizenship has opened doors for him in global T20 leagues, following a precedent set by former Pakistan teammate Azhar Mahmood, who played in the IPL after acquiring British nationality.
