Devynne Charlton is shifting her reputation beyond her world record indoor success by capturing a gold medal in the 100m hurdles at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Although she feels her powerful, shorter stature naturally suits the 60m race, she successfully pushed back against being pigeonholed as merely an indoor specialist by defeating Tobi Amusan with a wind-assisted 12.33 performance.
Despite previous obstacles such as hamstring issues prior to the Paris Olympics and lingering injuries last year, she believes her outdoor abilities possess significant room for expansion. Under the guidance of coach Rolando Greene, the Kentucky-based athlete looks forward to focusing on outdoor competition with the absence of a World Indoor Championship in 2027.
