During the Asian Games gold medal T20 fixture in Nisshin, Indian opening batter Abhishek Sharma delivered a historic performance against Pakistan by smashing seven maximums in a single innings. This destructive knock leveled the benchmark previously established by Yuvraj Singh during a 2012 match in Ahmedabad, making them the only two Indian players to achieve the feat.
Abhishek also advanced his cumulative tally against this opponent to fourteen total maximums across multiple appearances, which includes five hits during a 2025 encounter in Dubai. By reaching this milestone, the opener surpassed Virat Kohli's prior mark of eleven maximums, which had long stood as the highest total by any Indian batsman in fixtures against Pakistan.
Before being dismissed via stumping by Usman Khan, Abhishek contributed a brisk 61 runs from just 28 deliveries to secure the gold medal victory.
