Chiefs rule out LT Josh Simmons and will start undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson at LT vs. the Broncos

Kansas City will be without left tackle Josh Simmons for their 2026 regular-season opener against the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night. In his absence, the Chiefs plan to place undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson into the starting lineup along the offensive line.

The divisional matchup also marks the on-field comeback for Patrick Mahomes following a significant knee injury suffered during the previous campaign. Benson will now step directly into the role of safeguarding the quarterback's blindside.
