Charlton & Portsmouth battle to draw

Charlton preserved their undefeated home run during the Championship campaign after battling to a scoreless draw against Portsmouth. The hosts dictated the opening half, threatening through Karlan Grant's near-post drive saved by Daniel Bielica's legs and an early Tyreece Campbell delivery requiring a Marlon Pack clearance.

Millenic Alli, who faced his former loan club and met jeers from the travelling fans, missed the target from close range off another Campbell cross before testing Bielica from distance, while Conor Shaughnessy hooked a Tyler Bindon knockdown off Portsmouth's goal line. At the other end, Terry Devlin's dangerous low delivery was thwarted by the outstretched boot of Arthur Okonkwo, leaving the visitors without an on-target attempt prior to the interval.

Portsmouth, entering the fixture having registered goals in eleven successive away league outings, emerged reinvigorated following a full week's rest compared to Charlton's midweek stalemate with QPR. Okonkwo denied Abu Kamara's drive within twenty seconds of the restart and later gathered a weak effort from Adrian Segecic, who had previously been stopped by Oliver Skipp's sliding tackle after a Bindon turnover.

Referee Andrew Kitchen waved away Jayden Meghoma's appeals for a spot-kick against Alli, while Colby Bishop failed to connect sliding onto Ryan Kavuma-McQueen's cross. In the closing stages, Conor Coventry fired high, Shaughnessy blocked Grant, and penalty shouts were dismissed following Benjamin Arthur's challenge on Miles Leaburn.
