Carlos Alcaraz to play US Open semi-finalist in the first round of the Vienna Open as nightmare draw is confirmed

Carlos Alcaraz is set to return to the Vienna Open for the first time in five years, aiming to improve his indoor hard-court form ahead of the Paris Masters. The Spaniard faces a difficult path in Austria, starting with a first-round match against recent US Open semi-finalist Karen Khachanov.

While Alcaraz holds a 6-0 record against the Russian, the draw remains challenging with potential future opponents including Jurij Rodionov, Nikoloz Basilashvili, Andrey Rublev, Tommy Paul, Daniil Medvedev, and Alexander Zverev. During his previous appearance in Vienna, Alcaraz defeated Dan Evans and Andy Murray before overcoming Matteo Berrettini in the quarter-finals, ultimately losing to Zverev in the semi-finals.
