The St. Louis Cardinals secured left-handed pitcher Eduardo Rivera from the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday, parting ways with minor league arm Juan Carlos García in the transaction.
Rivera, a towering 23-year-old product of San Juan, Puerto Rico, originally entered the professional ranks as an 11th-round selection in the 2021 draft by the Oakland Athletics. He later reached the Major Leagues during the 2026 campaign, logging four appearances that included three starts while recording a 6.30 ERA across ten innings of work.
Across his minor league assignments this year between Portland and Worcester, the southpaw posted a 7-2 record accompanied by a 2.59 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 55.2 frames. Meanwhile, the outgoing García departs the Cardinals organization after spending the past two seasons pitching in the Dominican Summer League.
