Brighton blast FIVE past bottom-club Coventry

Brighton climbed into fourth position in the Premier League, reinforcing their status as the division's most prolific attack with a commanding 5-0 rout of Coventry at the CBS Arena. The hosts, managed by Frank Lampard, remain without a point following their promotion.

Despite Brighton firing off the opening seven attempts inside the first 20 minutes, Coventry pushed back with the following eight efforts, contributing to a record 21 total first-half attempts. Visiting goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen preserved the clean sheet by deflecting Jack Rudoni's volley and tipping over a venomous Frank Onyeka drive, allowing Charalampos Kostoulas to break the deadlock before the interval.

The visitors pulled away shortly after the restart when Malick Yalcouye beat Aurele Florian Amenda to double the margin. Coventry's hopes were completely derailed when Taiwo Awoniyi received a red card for elbowing Maxim De Cuyper.
