Bo Nix struggles in Monday night loss

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix experienced a difficult return to action during a 31-10 defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs in their Week 1 Monday night opener. Playing his first meaningful snaps since suffering a fractured ankle during the previous season's AFC divisional round, Nix faced an uphill battle as Denver looked to rebound from last year's AFC Championship Game defeat.

Although he executed a trick play involving wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to connect with tight end Evan Engram for a score, Nix was also plagued by a costly interception early in the contest.

Kansas City firmly took control of the rivalry matchup behind the return of quarterback Patrick Mahomes and a ground game powered by running back Kenneth Walker III, who posted a career-best performance. The loss marked a stark reversal from the previous campaign, when Denver claimed both regular-season meetings against Kansas City despite Nix managing only a single touchdown across 75 pass attempts in those prior contests.
