Head coach Bill Belichick and the North Carolina squad dropped their record to even at two wins and two losses following a 37-26 defeat against Notre Dame on Saturday. The Tar Heels initially narrowed the deficit to a single point when they returned the opening kick of the third quarter for a touchdown, but the Fighting Irish steadily pulled away and widened their advantage to 37-20 with seven minutes remaining in the contest.
Next week, North Carolina travels to Acrisure Stadium for a matchup against an undefeated five-win Pitt team. That particular venue holds historical significance for Belichick, who previously secured a pair of AFC Championship victories there during his tenure leading the Patriots in 2001 and 2004.
Following that road game, the Tar Heels' remaining schedule features contests against Duke, Syracuse, Miami, Connecticut, Louisville, Virginia, and NC State.
