Yale QB Dante Reno has big performance after his father (and former coach) dies

Yale quarterback Dante Reno delivered a memorable performance on Saturday, throwing for 298 yards and four touchdowns to lead his team to a 34-24 comeback victory over Merrimack after trailing 21-7 in the second quarter. The emotional game took place just one day after the university announced the passing of his father and former football coach, Tony Reno, at the age of 52.

Tony Reno had previously stepped down from his 83-win coaching tenure in February 2026 for health reasons after leading the program to five Ivy League titles and coaching his son the prior season.
