Massimiliano Allegri acknowledged that Napoli’s squad depth was severely limited in their 4-1 loss to FC Porto, noting that ten players were unavailable due to injuries or ineligibility, leaving only three senior outfield options on the bench. He said the team performed well until about the 70th minute but fatigue led to costly errors on set pieces and a lapse that allowed Porto to pull ahead in the final stages.
Allegri highlighted the opening goal by Scott McTominay, who equalised after Jan Bednarek’s header was saved, and pointed to the decisive moments: a Gabriel Veiga counter‑attack, a Jakub Kiwior header from a corner, and a penalty converted by Samu after Rafa Marin was sent off. He stressed the need to recover for the upcoming Serie A clash with Lazio and to regain the missing players during the international break.
