Minimum MotoGP testing plea amid ‘experts will be rookies’ warning

MotoGP rider Fabio di Giannantonio has advocated for a guaranteed baseline of testing time on upcoming 850cc machinery and Pirelli tires ahead of the 2027 championship. Because several manufacturers have prioritized their incumbent athletes during recent evaluations, a group of nine competitors including di Giannantonio, Pecco Bagnaia, Fabio Quartararo, Alex Marquez, Jorge Martin, Ai Ogura, Enea Bastianini, David Alonso, and Dani Holgado have yet to experience the new rubber.

Those nine individuals face a restricted preparation schedule consisting solely of the Valencia post-season session on December 1 and four official pre-season days split between Sepang and Buriram. Meanwhile, rookies such as Nicolo Bulega, Izan Guevara, and Senna Agius can participate in the two-day Sepang Shakedown in late January due to concession rules, prompting calls from Bastianini and di Giannantonio to expand eligibility so that switching riders can also join for reasons of fairness and safety.
