49ers’ rookie De’Zhaun Stribling to miss ‘at least a month’ with deltoid sprain in ankle

San Francisco rookie pass-catcher De’Zhaun Stribling faces an absence of no less than four weeks after sustaining a deltoid sprain in his ankle. The first-year wideout suffered the setback during the 49ers' 27-7 triumph over the Los Angeles Rams, an international season opener contested in Melbourne, Australia.

While the team must navigate reduced depth at receiver for the upcoming slate, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that the former Ole Miss standout managed to escape harm to his Achilles tendon.

Stribling's departure came during a week that also saw fellow Ole Miss alumnus A.J. Brown suffer an injury while making his debut with the New England Patriots, subsequently landing on injured reserve.

Meanwhile, San Francisco's defensive effort in the Australia contest was spearheaded by All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner, who returned from a severe physical ailment to help lock down the victory.
