Fox announcer Joe Davis is seeking a second chance at calling a World Series Game 7 after his experience during the 2025 championship. In that 11-inning contest, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays.
Davis felt he was too tense and overthought his delivery, despite the quality of his calls for Miguel Rojas' game-tying home run in the ninth, Andy Pages' catch in the ninth, and Will Smith's walk-off home run in the eleventh.
Davis admitted in a conversation with Bryan Curtis that he felt a fraction of a second slow on his timing. He has faced significant scrutiny due to his ties to the Dodgers and has missed some postseason games for health reasons. Despite these challenges, he remains a perfectionist regarding his broadcasting craft.
