Penders error & Palmer sees red - player ratings for Chelsea v Spurs

Mike Penders made his first start for Chelsea after Emiliano Martinez’s injury, but a wayward punch from a corner and a subsequent tap‑in from Tottenham’s Tel left him with a costly own‑goal. In the same match Cole Palmer was sent off after a late tackle on Gallagher, following an earlier booking for pushing Fernandes, capping a night of ill‑discipline for the midfielder.

Defensively, Pedro Neto and Moises Caicedo were among the few bright spots, with Neto winning the ball high up the pitch and Caicedo disrupting Tottenham’s rhythm, especially in his battles with James Maddison. Jordan Henderson, Levi Colwill and Maxence Lacroix all contributed solidly in midfield and defence, while younger players such as Josh Acheampong, Jorrel Hato and Geovany Quenda struggled to make a decisive impact.
