What happened to Drake Maye? Why his Year 3 collapse is getting harder to explain away

Following a remarkable campaign that culminated in a Super Bowl appearance, New England quarterback Drake Maye has endured a troubling start to the 2026 season. Through the opening three games, he has accumulated six interceptions alongside a single touchdown pass, accompanied by notable declines in completion rate, yards per attempt, and overall passer rating.

Recent contests underscore these struggles, highlighted by a lopsided defeat against Jacksonville where the signal-caller registered two interceptions and a lost fumble. While analysts point to a demanding schedule, shaky pass protection, and the absence of targets such as A.J.

Brown and Mike Onwenu as contributing factors, the sudden surge in turnovers remains a central concern for the franchise.
