Inside Drake Maye's alarming 2026 slump one year after Patriots QB was MVP runner-up

New England signal-caller Drake Maye is facing questions across the league following a severe sophomore slump that comes just one season after capturing runner-up honors for the Most Valuable Player award. Through three contests this autumn, the former North Carolina standout has struggled immensely with ball security, recording six interceptions alongside a single touchdown pass and the lowest quarterback rating in the entire league at 58.6.

Following a championship game appearance last season, the Patriots have opened the current campaign with a disappointing one-and-two record. Observers within front office circles have begun expressing concern regarding the twenty-four-year-old athlete's poise and confidence under pressure, especially after a heavy thirty-five to six defeat against Jacksonville that marked the lowest statistical performance of his career.
