Returning from a hamstring layoff during the second Test against Australia, Kagiso Rabada delivered a searing 154.5 kmph thunderbolt that rushed past Travis Head. Having replaced Keshav Maharaj in the South Africa lineup, the fast bowler wasted no time making an impact by dismissing Nic Maddinson in his opening over on Day 3.
South Africa built a commanding total of 425 for nine declared, anchored by Temba Bavuma's career-high 179 alongside contributions from Marco Jansen and Simon Harmer. In response, the Australian batting lineup collapsed to 69 for six by the lunch break on Day 4 while chasing the massive target.
Australia had previously chosen to omit Nathan Lyon from their red-ball side for the first time since 2013, leaving their spin duties to part-time options.
