Marcel Camprubí revealed severe damage to his cycle on social media following a collision during the Tre Valli Varesine event in northern Italy. The rider shared images of his broken frame, expressing dismay over the dangers competitors face on the road just weeks after a fatal crash claimed the life of Finlay Tarling at the Volta a Portugal.
His teammate Tom Pidcock disclosed that Camprubí and Thomas Gloag were struck by an oncoming police vehicle traveling against the race direction. Pidcock finished second in the competition and later echoed safety concerns, emphasizing that such course hazards must be eliminated.
The dangerous incident follows several recent disruptions involving unauthorized vehicles on Italian autumn Classic courses, including similar sightings during the Giro dell'Emilia and Coppa Bernocchi.
