'A serious incident, one we must not underestimate' – Coppa Bernocchi organisers respond after delivery van driver swung onto race route between groups

Coppa Bernocchi organizers have addressed a dangerous moment during the Italian one-day race when a commercial delivery vehicle managed to pull onto the active course between the breakaway leaders and the chasing pack. While no collisions occurred and the driver was quickly redirected away from the path, race officials Luca Roveda and Gianni Dolce emphasized that the severe breach demands a thorough investigation.

Roveda and Dolce noted that despite deploying hundreds of personnel and security vehicles along the route, they must determine how the security protocol failed. This alarming breach arrives amid a troubling sequence of recent course intrusions and vehicle near-misses across various Italian cycling events.
