India secured a comfortable eight-wicket victory with 32 balls remaining to take a 1-0 lead in the T20I series against the West Indies in Lucknow. Chasing a target of 172, the hosts stumbled early by losing both opening batsmen before the completion of the fourth over.
Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan rescued the innings through an unbroken partnership of 137 runs to achieve the target with ease. Iyer registered his maiden T20I century by finishing unbeaten on 102 runs, while Kishan contributed 37 not out off 27 deliveries.
Following the match, Kishan explained that he deliberately rotated the strike to keep Iyer facing as many balls as possible because he noticed his partner was timing the ball exceptionally well while he himself struggled to find his rhythm.
