'Real buzz' around Northern Ireland - Charles

Northern Ireland’s League B2 campaign has begun with a mix of resilience and emerging talent under manager Michael O’Neill. The team kicked off with a 1-0 win over Georgia before a 0-0 draw at home against Hungary, followed by a commanding 2-0 victory over Ukraine in Trnava and another goalless stalemate against Georgia at Windsor Park.

O’Neill praised the squad’s professionalism, noting their ability to handle pressure in tight matches and create chances at home, where he expects goals to follow soon. The extended window has allowed him to integrate young players into the lineup, with Liverpool prospect Kieran Morrison earning his competitive debut alongside standout defenders Ruairi McConville (21) and Tom Atcheson (20).

Forward Ceadach O’Neill also made his fourth cap, securing his international allegiance after his strong performance off the bench. The manager highlighted the squad’s depth, calling the current competition ‘healthy’ and a catalyst for future improvement as they prepare for their next fixtures in November.
