The league has enacted its first scheduling adjustment of the campaign, altering the Week 5 itinerary for a historic NFC North rivalry. The October 11 matchup between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers was originally positioned in the late afternoon window on Fox, but officials have shifted the kickoff forward to 1 p.m.
ET. This alteration stems from personnel challenges, notably the absence of Caleb Williams leaving Chicago to lean on backup options like Tyson Bagent or Case Keenum, alongside early struggles from Green Bay.
The adjustment allows the broadcast network to elevate the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks contest into the premier 4:25 p.m. ET time slot.
With this shift, the 49ers and Seahawks showdown takes center stage in Seattle during the afternoon window. San Francisco enters this stretch carrying one of the league's most potent scoring offenses, averaging 32.7 points per game through the opening three weeks.
They will be tested by a Seattle defensive unit that has currently surrendered the fewest yards per contest across the NFL. Meanwhile, the remaining games on the Week 5 slate remain entirely unaffected by the league's scheduling modification, leaving the rest of Sunday's viewing schedule intact.
