Former Alabama head coach Nick Saban recently opened up about two specific instances where he regrets deferring to player input over his own judgment. One notable example occurred during a 2013 matchup against Auburn, when he allowed kicker Adam Griffith to attempt a 57-yard field goal that resulted in a game-winning return for the opposition.
Saban also expressed remorse regarding a 2019 game against Mississippi State where he kept quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on the field despite holding a 28-point lead. Although he had previously instructed his starter to exit the game, a player request led him to keep Tagovailoa in for a two-minute drill, which ultimately resulted in a season-ending hip injury.
