49ers rookie De'Zhaun Stribling to miss at least a month with ankle injury

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling is slated to sit out a minimum of four weeks after suffering a deltoid ligament strain in his ankle. The setback occurred during San Francisco's Week 1 victory against the Los Angeles Rams in Australia, a contest in which the rookie had already visited the sideline examination tent prior to his second-quarter departure.

Though designated questionable and briefly re-entering the action, the Mississippi State alumnus ultimately collapsed while separating from Rams cornerback Trent McDuffie on an inward cut, requiring medical staff to help him off before he was carted away.

Selected 33rd overall in the draft, Stribling generated significant buzz during exhibition play to establish himself in the Offensive Rookie of the Year conversation. While the team plans to manage his recovery with care, the pass-catcher is gathering additional medical feedback, keeping the chance of a surgical repair possible despite no current procedure being scheduled.
