During Monday's Game 5 matchup at Chase Center, the Golden State Valkyries clamped down defensively to defeat the Atlanta Dream 64-55 and move within one victory of a championship. In the process, the squad established a new WNBA Finals benchmark by accumulating 37 total blocks across the series.
Veronica Burton led the defensive effort with four rejections, while teammate Kiah Stokes contributed three blocks to tie Lisa Leslie's historic playoff streak of six consecutive games with at least three swats. Kaila Charles and Cecilia Zandalasini each added a block as Golden State held Atlanta to 29 percent shooting from the field.
Looking ahead, Golden State bench boss Natalie Nakase emphasized maintaining composure as her group prepares to travel for Game 6 at State Farm Arena on Thursday. Stokes and Burton also encouraged supporters to tune into the early morning tip-off on Thursday.
