The USC Trojans delivered a stunning upset over the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes in a high-stakes Big Ten clash, marking their most significant victory of the season.
The win came despite Ohio State’s absence of star quarterback Julian Sayin, who sat out with a shoulder injury suffered against Indiana. Backup quarterback Luke Fahey led the Buckeyes into the game, but USC’s defense and explosive plays, including a highlight-reel hurdle by tight end Mark Bowman, proved decisive.
The Trojans held a commanding lead at halftime, with Trent Mosley contributing 10 points himself, while Ohio State’s offensive struggles continued into the second half. The victory also added to USC’s narrow all-time series lead over the Buckeyes, renewing a rivalry that had been dormant for nearly a decade.
Ohio State’s absence of key players, including top defender Jay Timmons, further complicated their path to a comeback.
