Slovenia’s Primož Roglič delivered a dominant performance to claim his first European time-trial title at this year’s UEC European Championships, winning by a margin of six seconds over Bruno Armirail. The 36-year-old set the fastest times at every intermediate checkpoint on the 22km course, including a standout 13:10 ascent of the steep Možjanca climb, which averaged over 10% gradient.
Roglič’s victory was all the more poignant for being on home soil, with Slovenian fans lining the route to create a celebratory atmosphere. Despite a technical issue with his radio early in the race, Roglič relied on instinct and sheer determination to secure the win, calling it a ‘beautiful’ moment for Slovenia and the event organizers.
The race featured a competitive field, though several top contenders, including World Champion Remco Evenepoel, were absent. Among the notable participants were Stefan Küng, Kasper Asgreen, and Maxime Decomble, who finished third, 22 seconds behind Roglič.
The event concluded six days of racing, with the time trial course mirroring the one used in previous road races, including the grueling climb that defined the competition.
