UEC European Championships: Azzura Ballan masters a four woman sprint to take the Junior Women's title

Italy's Azzurra Ballan secured the under-19 women's road race gold medal at the European Championships this weekend after dominating a four-rider sprint finish. The eighteen-year-old cyclist comfortably defeated her remaining breakaway companions on the circuit, leaving France's Morgane Lestrade to claim the silver medal and Germany's Klara Dworatzek to settle for third place.

The decisive breakaway took shape during the second circuit through Šenčur, as a leading group formed and gradually built a comfortable advantage over the chasing pack despite various attacks and dropping riders along the difficult climbs.
