Glamorgan batter Asa Tribe has been denied entry to join the England Lions squad in Saint Kitts & Nevis due to recent travel to Kenya, where he played three one-day matches for Jersey in Nairobi. The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed Tribe was unable to cross the border because of Saint Kitts & Nevis’s 21-day non-entry rule for non-nationals who have visited Kenya, a restriction linked to an Ebola outbreak in the region.
Tribe, who was set to participate in a series of T20 and one-day fixtures against West Indies A, is now back in the UK while officials assess the situation.
Meanwhile, the England Lions secured a dominant eight-wicket victory in the opening T20 of the series, bowling out West Indies A for 98. Naavya Sharma led the attack with four wickets, while Scott Currie took three, and captain Thomas Rew anchored the chase with an unbeaten 50 as the tourists reached 101-2 in just 10.1 overs.
