Cricket Australia has revealed a large-scale public artwork in Adelaide's central business district to mark the 50-day countdown to the upcoming Christmas Test against New Zealand. The piece, situated at the intersection of King William and Currie streets where the former Adelaide Metro Information Centre stood, features local cricketing icons Travis Head and Alex Carey depicted raising their bats against a backdrop of the Adelaide Oval scoreboard, The Hill, and St Peter's Cathedral.
The mural was created by New South Wales-based artist Calum Hotham in partnership with street art studio Blank Walls, a process that required one week to complete. The unveiling event was attended by members of Head's family alongside former Australian players Callum Ferguson and Mel Jones, serving as a tribute to the two South Australian stars ahead of the match at the Adelaide Oval.
