Top storyline for each Wild Card Series Game 1

The postseason finally opens after an eleven-month wait, kicking off with Wild Card Series Game 1 matchups across the league. Philadelphia enters the playoffs facing questions following a difficult fifteen-game stretch that nearly squandered their postseason positioning, though a final day victory secured their spot.

Meanwhile, a bizarre American League slate features the White Sox and Astros colliding despite both finishing under .500 in September and holding the lowest regular-season win totals among playoff participants. Both squads navigate pitching rotation questions and late-season offensive slumps, leaning on players like Munetaka Murakami and Yordan Alvarez as the slate resets to zero.
